West German Max Carl key wind mechanical monkey, which plays its drum when wound.
Monkey measures about 7 inches high.
Original paper label attached to upper chest.
Constructed of fabric over metal armature. Drum is metal.
Small spot on felt hat, looks like dried glue. Small brown spot near right eye. Metal drumsticks protrude through monkey's wrists and sometimes need adjustment as they tend to slide back up into the monkey's arm.
Windup mechanism can be a bit erratic: best to hold monkey's limbs tightly while winding, and then let him go to perform, otherwise he is a bit too anxious to get started. But works nicely -- see video.
Very good condition for this 1950s toy.
