VINTAGE HOLGATE OLD WOMAN WHO LIVED IN A SHOE LACING WOODEN TOY WITH PEG

VINTAGE HOLGATE "OLD WOMAN WHO LIVED IN A SHOE" LACING WOODEN TOY WITH PEG FIGURES - Circa 1940's? "There was an old lady who lived in a shoe. She had so many children she didn't know what to do. She gave them some broth without any bread. Then kissed them all roundly and sent them to bed!" This vintage, sturdy wooden toy from Holgate Toys is in very good condition for its age.  There are some scratches from age and play wear. Comes with 11 kids (colored wooden pegs). You put the kids to bed through the hole in the back ...  then unlace the shoe to take them out.  Very cool!  Shoe measures 10 inches long, 4 inches wide, and 3.75 inches tall. I believe it has the original shoelaces.  This toy has been in our family since at least the late 1940's when my sister and brother were toddlers.  The Holgate Toy Company, located in Pennsylvania, has been around since 1789 per their Facebook page.
