Toys & Hobbies / Electronic, Battery & Wind-Up / Battery Operated / Pre-1970
Here is another toy from my projects pile, which I never got around to. Time to find it a new home. This is a battery operated tin lithographed train toy called the Silver Mountain Express. Carries the number 3525 on the cab. It was made in Japan by Modern Toys (I try to show a closeup of the maker's mark, but that silver color made it difficult!). It is about 15 1/2 inches long (I did put a penny in the pictures for size reference). In nice shape, but untested, so to be safe please assume it is currently NOT working (most of these 1960's and 1970's battery ops are not working anymore!). Looks complete EXCEPT for a little plastic slide piece that would hold the battery box cover in the closed position. The battery box looks clean, and the little plastic engineer is still here and in nice shape as well. Looks like it would have a glow (from a light bulb) to the "firebox" in front of the engineer, and likely would move around in an eccentric manner. I am sure the collectors out there looking at this know what it does! Anyway, it weighs about 3 pounds boxed up to ship. Photos from many angles, so you can judge the toy for yourself. Priced to sell, with only actual shipping cost charged to the winner (I give you a few options on shipping method).
