Conte Warlord Tower Playset.  One of 250 total made.  The set is from 1999.  1/32 scale.  This playset features Conte's greatest achievement - the 4-story Norman Keep known as the Warlord Tower.  The tower is an impressive 27 inches tall and consists of five separate sections.  Each is meticulously detailed both inside and out.  The removable sidewall sections measures 19 x 7 inches and allows for play access to the tower interior.  The tower sculpturing is exceptional both inside and throughout. s" Based on the free-standing Hollywood movie set from Charlton Heston's epic Medieval adventure movie, the 5-piece keep can be played with fully enclosed, or have a panel removed from its side to reveal the 4 different levels of the fortification. The tower is three stories high and is made of high density foam complete with a highly detailed interior on each floor that is accessible from both above the tower stacks or from behind with a pull away panel for access to all three floors simultaneously.
Based on "The Warlord" 1965 Movie staring Charleton Heston, Rosemary Forsyth, Richard Boone.  It is not a well-known film, and while it has some serious problems from a historical standpoint, it is in many ways a better film about the Middle Ages than much of what Hollywood has released since then. In 1991, the American Historical Association honored it as one of the best films about the period ever produced.
The movie centers on Chrysagon, the War Lord who has been sent by his Norman duke to look after one of the Dukes possessions, a little village with a keep on the coast. The village is subject to Frisken Viking raids and Chrysagon must protect the village from these readers. During a raid, the Frisken chief's son is captured by the Normans and, of course, his father must come back for him. Meanwhile,
Chrysagon falls in love with a beautiful village girl and takes her as his lady. This in flames the villagers and
Chrysagon's brother Draco, who senses that, for the love of a woman Woman, his brother risks destroying his position in society and peace in the village. The free skins attack the Cape, only to be driven back by Draco who brings a catapult and reinforcements in the nick of time. What you see is what you get.  Set sold as is.  This set is very scarce to say the least.
