1/618 Atlantis "Bismarck" #M3008 Scale Model Ship

The Bismarck battleship makes a great build for ship builders. The kit comes molded in gray and includes detailed instructions and decals. This kit is molded in battleship gray and includes 2 catapult observation planes and a display stand with nameplate decal. The assembled model measures 16" long and has a one piece hull. The main turrets turn and have guns that elevate. This mighty vessel was the most feared German battleship of World War I. Her high speed and powerful guns gave her the capability to overtake and destroy her foes with ease. She seemed to be indestructible, but was finally sunk after repeated attacks of gunfire, bombings, and torpedoing in the most famous sea battle in modern history during which the British Admiralty's battleship Hood was also lost. The German battleship "Bismarck" proved conclusively to the British Admiralty that the German Navy was equipped with sophisticated warships that possessed awesome capabilities. Designed as a commerce raider, this famed "Tirpitz" class battleship relied on speed and endurance to overtake and destroy its foe. The original Bismarck was over eight hundred feet in length, this leviathan displaced more than 42,000 tons and attained speeds in excess of thirty knots. Eight powerful fifteen-inch guns were fitted in four main turrets. During May of 1941, the "Bismarck" was destroyed in one of modern naval history's most famous battles. In a desperate attempt to gain access to the North Atlantic shipping lanes, the "Bismarck" was intercepted by a well-coordinated British Naval effort. During unrelenting battle, concentrated gunfire from the German raider devastated the British Battleship "Hood; but the feared German warship succumbed to repeated gunfire, bombing and torpedo attacks. *THIS IS A PLASTIC MODEL KIT THAT REQUIRES ASSEMBLY AND PAINTING.
